New York Mets Fan Makes Citi Field Security Look Foolish During Cat & Mouse Game On The Field

This pretty entertaining. A fan gets out onto the field during a St Louis Cardinals vs New York Mets game at Citi Field last week and makes the four security guys chasing him look absolutely foolish as they are unable to tackle him for a good 40 seconds. When they do finally catch him, they take him down hard. The video also shows just how far away the nose bleed seats truly are from the field. Warning: Mild profanity at the end of the clip.

Washington Nationals Hope Anthony Rendon Can Carry His Hitting Prowess To Professional Baseball

Great read by the Washington Post’s Adam Kilgore, who is a must follow on twitter @AdamKilgoreWP, about Washington Nationals 2011 first round pick Anthony Rendon. In the story Rendon’s high school and college coaches talk about his hitting prowess and Washington Nationals brass talk about why those tools gave the Nats confidence in picking Rendon despite some injury concerns.

Baltimore Orioles Farmhand Cole McCurry Jump Starts His Career By Adding A Slider

Spending parts of four seasons in the Low-A South Atlantic League is not on the resume of most major league pitchers. Cole McCurry may soon be an exception. The 6’2″ lefty out of Tennessee Wesleyan University is on the cusp of the big leagues after a season that has taken him up the Baltimore Orioles chain from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A Norfolk in what has been a breakout 2011. Prior to this season, McCurry spent all or parts of the 2007, 2008. 2009, and 2010 season as a starter at Low-A Delmarva and High-A Frederick. This year, the addition of a slider, and a move to the bullpen, has opposing batters hitting just .180 off of McCurry who is a combined 6-1 with a 1.41ERA. In the story McCurry talks about his sudden success, the development of his slider, and keeping a level head as he positions himself for a shot with the Orioles. Padres Prospect Jonathan Galvez Talks About His Strong Season At High-A Lake Elsinore

The Padres may have a breakout second base prospect in the form of 20 year old Jonathan Galvez. The native of the Dominican Republic is batting .300 with 25 Doubles, 5 Triples, 8 Home Runs, and 60 Rbi’s for High-A Lake Elsinore in the California League. Galvez has also been very effective on the bases stealing 29 in 35 attempts. All of those offensive numbers are career highs, except for Home Runs, he is two off of last year’s total of 10. In the story, Galvez talks about working hard to improve defensive skills (40 errors in 2010) so they match his hitting prowess and the joy his family felt when he originally signed with the Padres.
