With Pat Smith, Assistant Coach, Oklahoma State University. Pat Smith, a four-time NCAA Champion and a four-time Big Eight Champion, demonstrates his high-crotch series. Conventional wisdom implies that hitting a high-crotch starts with inside control and penetration. Pat Smith tells us it's about elbow control and moving your opponent, with no penetration. Coach Smith takes you through all the phases of the high-crotch including the square stance, head position, and high-crotch defense. Coach Smith also demonstrates how to setup your opponent without touching them, how to hit a high-crotch off a collar tie-up, and how to use a head-snap by your opponent to your advantage. This video features Barry Davis, University of Wisconsin Head Coach, 3X NCAA Champion, 4X All-American, US Olympian. Coach Davis shows a unique drill system that he uses in practice at the University of Wisconsin. These systems allow you to drill a number of different takedown styles in a short amount of time. Davis begins with two different single leg combination, each featuring at least three different techniques. From there he shows four different combinations from single leg counters. He closes with a demonstration on single leg takedowns from the mat, a style he used on the way to three NCAA championships. These combinations will allow you as the coach to drill a number of different moves in a short amount of time, giving you more practice time to wrestle hard! 34 minutes. 2003.

In this video, Smith dispels the notion that the only way to score a high-crotch takedown is with inside control from the collar tie-up position. Smith demonstrates methods for scoring a high-crotch single-leg takedown using elbow control and no penetration. Focusing on proper technique, Smith takes you through each phase of gaining elbow control and taking your opponent out of position and off-balance. Several of the most effective finishes for the high-crotch takedown are then demonstrated. This great video also provides methods for scoring against counters such as sprawls and under-hooks. This video features Tom Ryan, Head Coach Hofstra University. Coach Ryan has assembled a tape that will give your wrestlers an edge on their feet. Ryan has filled this video with set-ups, shots and scoring moves and finishes for high crotches, singles and doubles. Ryan starts at the beginning describing the ideal position your wrestler should be in to control tie-ups and unbalance the opponent. He then goes through seven set-ups in which to hit the high crotch depending on how the opponent reacts. The second half of the tape is filled with finishes, including circle single, slide byes, front headlock, foot sweep and many more.
