Joe Bauserman’s Failure On The Mound Leads To Success On The Gridiron With Ohio State

Joe Bauserman was the Pittsburgh Pirates 4th round pick in the 2004. His best season came in 2005 when he went 6-2 with a 2.84ERA for the Williamsport Crosscutters. He decided to call it quits in 2006 after a 6-8 season with the Low-A Hickory Crawdads. Even though Bauserman’s baseball career was short lived, he did manage to appear on some mainstream baseball cards. These days you can find Bauserman on your television every Sunday as the fifth year starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Houston Astros have acquired Phillies outfield prospect Domingo Santana as the player to be named later in the Hunter Pence deal. Santana is currently hitting .269 with 29(2B), 4(3B), 7HR, and 32RBI for the Low-A Lakewood BlueClaws. In 2010 he hit a combined .211 with 19 Doubles and 8 Home Runs in a season split between Lakewood and the Short-A Williamsport Crosscutters. The recently turned 19 year old is one of the youngest players in the South Atlantic League. Santana was signed by the Phillies as a non drafted free agent in 2009 out of the Dominican Republic.

It could have been one of the worst tragedies ever to occur in minor league baseball, when earlier this month the Williamsport Crosscutters team bus crashed and dangled precariously over a Staten Island Expressway guard rail. Had the bus gone inches further the entire team would have plummeted to the highway many feet below. Phillies Short-A Williamsport Crosscutters Team Lucky To Be Alive After Bus Crash Tuesday Night

Players and coaches on the Williamsport Crosscutters, the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies are lucky to be alive after a major bus crash Tuesday night on Staten Island. The bus was traveling to the team hotel when the bus collided with an SUV and then crashed through a guard rail on an overpass above the Staten Island Expressway.
