One of the draws of baseball teams in the Indy Leagues across the country is that you never know what you may see. For the York Revolution you will see the team’s play by play man Darrell Henry catching one of the team’s top pitchers, former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Corey Thurman. Check out the video story below from Jason Bristol and give him a follow @JasonBristol
Great story from our friend Jason Bristol who is a must follow on twitter @JasonBristol. Private instructor Mark Wetzel has made a career as a hitting instructor despite being legally blind. Among his clients are former Cincinnati Reds prospect Eric Eymann who now plays for the York Revolution in the Atlantic League who talks about his experience being taught by Wetzel. It’s an awe inspiring story.
Jason Bristol, a must follow on twitter @JasonBristol, sits down with former Tampa Bay Devil Rays prospect & Miami Hurricanes quarterback Kenny Kelly who talks about his full on crash into a concrete wall during an Independent Atlantic League game against the York Revolution. The crash seen in the video below is incredibly violent. Kelly was taken by ambulance from the field following the collision. Kelly, who plays for the Road Warriors sits down with Bristol and talks about that night, his comeback from the injury, and being thankful to not be more seriously hurt.
The San Diego Padres have picked up 2001 8th Overall pick John Van Benschoten off the independent league York Revolution. The former Pirate who has not pitched in the majors since 2008 was 3-2 with a 2.91ERA for York. He was not quite as good in the majors going 2-13 with a 9.20ERA for Pittsburgh in 19 career starts.
