VIDEO: San Francisco Giants & Philadelphia Phillies Brawl On Friday Night

This folks is a good one. The San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies got involved in a high quality brawl on Friday night. Shane Victorino who had hit a Home Run earlier in the game was hit in the back by a Ramon Ramirez pitch. Victorino stepped towards the mound, Giants catcher Eli Whiteside whipped off his mask and glove and started bobbing and weaving towards the on coming Phillies bench. From there it was on. After a lot of pushing and shoving and grabbing and clawing, the brawl seemed to be simmering down. That’s when Victorino broke free and dove back into the fray sparking more mayhem. Ramirez, Whiteside, and Victorino were all ejected for their role in the brawl. (Will get the video up on this post once MLB.com lets me embed it.)

Phillies Phanatic Dances To Lady Gaga During Richmond vs Reading Minor League Game

Who cannot get a laugh at the Phillies Phanatic. One of the best mascots ever, and despite the original Panatic Dave Raymond leaving the costume nearly two decades ago now, current Phanatic Tom Burgoyne has done a fantastic job carrying on the tradition. The Phanatic, always one to stay hip to pop culture trends, gets down to Lady Gaga at a recent Richmond Flying Squirrels vs Reading Phillies game. The Phanatic is a popular promotion across minor league baseball when the Phillies are on the road. Enjoy.

VIDEO: Bryce Harper Wins Game With Helmetless Headfirst Slide Into Home On Play At The Plate

This is a Must Watch video coming from our friend Jason Bristol of WHPTV in Harrisburg. Last night Bryce Harper came up in the ninth with a runner on in a scoreless game between his Harrisburg Senators and the Reading Phillies, and blasted a double down the right field line. The ball was misplayed by the right fielder who then overthrew home plate. Harper never stops and dives into home headfirst without a helmet on to score the eventual game winning run. It’s an awesome sequence. Also seen first in the video is the walkoff pickoff that sent Reading to a win over Harrisburg in the completion of a suspended game, a dancing old guy, as well as an awesome catch by Chris Rahl in game two, but the Harper play at the end of the video is the highlight by far.

Here’s a second angle. Fast forward to 1:40 mark in the video.

San Francisco Giants Farmhand Brad Eldred Has An Intense Pre-At-Bat Ritual

Superstitions and rituals are commonplace in the world of baseball. Some are mild, some are extreme such as the pre-at-bat ritual of Brad Eldred. The former Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies first base/outfielder is now with the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies after signing with the San Francisco Giants in the offseason. In the video, Eldred goes through a long ritual prior to a recent at-bat. It seems to be working as he hit his 20th Home Run for Fresno on Wednesday.

Northwoods League Manager Donnie Scott Doesn’t Quite Have The Art Of Base Throwing Down Pat

Lou Piniella is arguably major league baseball’s first ballot hall of famer of base tossing. Phillip Wellman and Joe Mikulik have mastered the art at the Minor League level during classic tirades. Former Rangers, Mariners, and Reds catcher Donnie Scott, currently the manager of the Battle Creek Bombers of the Northwoods League, tried to duplicate the feat after being ejected a couple of weeks ago, but sadly lacks the distance needed to join the base throwing elite.

Former St. Louis Cardinals Infielder Stubby Clapp Has Epic Meltdown After Being Ejected From Tri City Valley Cats Game Monday

This is not quite Phillip Wellman or Wally Backman awesome, but its pretty close. Former St. Louis Cardinals infielder Stubby Clapp in his first season as the manager for the Tri City Valleycats, the Houston Astros short season affiliate in the New York-Penn League has an epic meltdown this afternoon after one of his players, Matt Duffy was hit by a pitch by the Auburn Doubledays pitcher. The after Duffy trots down the line he is called back by the umpire who believed that he purposefully leaned into the pitch. That sends Clapp into a tirade of epic proportions. Among the highlights are a helmet spike, covering the plate with dirt, throwing the umpire out of the game, and chucking bats onto the field. Best manager tirade this year in Minor League Baseball. Thanks to Fox23 News in Albany for posting the awesome video.

UPDATED: The local Albany Newspaper gives the Print Version of the ejection complete with postgame reaction from Clapp.

UPDATE #2: Listen to the ejection’s Radio Call of Auburn Doubledays play by play man John Miller. You can follow John on twitter @JohnMillerLive

A pair of fans ran onto the field during Sunday’s Cardinals vs Cubs game at Busch Stadium. The pair evaded security for a good while with one of the two actually leaping back into the stands on the opposite side of the field from which he entered. This video features the fan who leaps back into the stands. Warning: Some profanity.

UPDATED: Highest quality video yet, includes the arrest of the guy and a reverse angle of the girl jumping into the stands.

Korean League Team Outdraws Some Major League Teams With Music, Thundersticks, and Cheerleaders

The Korean Baseball Organization is outdrawing some major league teams it would appear. Check out the two videos below from a game earlier this month between the Doosan Bears and the LG Twins. A pretty packed house full of thunderstick pounding fans react to a play on the field and sing-a-long to some music in the first video, and a group of dugout cheerleaders get the crowd fired up in the second video. It’s amazing how into it the baseball fans are and it looks like it would be a ton of fun to see a game in Korea.
