Tampa Bay Rays Prospect Derek Dietrich Talks About His Baseball Career

Very good read on current Tampa Bay Rays infield prospect Derek Dietrich. The Rays 2010 second round pick out of Georgia Tech is in the middle of a Midwest League All Star season for the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Dietrich is currently batting .287 with with 21 Doubles, 14 Home Runs, and 55 RBI’s. In the story Dietrich talks about growing up playing baseball in Cleveland, his decision to go to Georgia Tech instead of signing with the Houston Astros who drafted him in the third round out of high school, and being ready for his next step as a pro.

Tampa Bay Rays Top Pitching Prospect Matt Moore Strikes Out 13 For Durham On Wednesday

It sounds like a broken record, but the Tampa Bay Rays once again have the best pitching prospect in the game. Matt Moore was on top of his game once again Wednesday night for Triple-A Durham. The 6’2 lefty, in only his second Triple-A start went 8 innings, allowed no runs, three hits, walked two, and struck out 13 Gwinnett Braves hitters to pick up his first Triple-A victory. Moore now has 151 strikeouts in 115.1 innings of work. He’s allowed six hits in 13 innings in his two Triple-A starts and has struck out 20 batters over that span. Prior to the promotion, Moore was 8-3 with a 2.20ERA for Double-A Montgomery.

Former Tampa Bay Devil Rays Prospect Kenny Kelly Back After Violent Collision With Outfield Wall

Jason Bristol, a must follow on twitter @JasonBristol, sits down with former Tampa Bay Devil Rays prospect & Miami Hurricanes quarterback Kenny Kelly who talks about his full on crash into a concrete wall during an Independent Atlantic League game against the York Revolution. The crash seen in the video below is incredibly violent. Kelly was taken by ambulance from the field following the collision. Kelly, who plays for the Road Warriors sits down with Bristol and talks about that night, his comeback from the injury, and being thankful to not be more seriously hurt.
