The grade is reflective of his work prior to the injury. UPDATE: I have been asked by a few about the C+ grade for Nieuwenhuis. The biggest reason I gave Nieuwenhuis a C+ and not something higher is due to his lack of production with runners in scoring position. Yes he batted .298 and showed some power but he had 14 RBI’s in 53 games. 6 of those were himself on home runs (all of which were solo shots). He batted .206 with runners in scoring position and .228 with runners on. Any way you cut it, that’s just not getting the job done. Also 18 of his 25 extra base hits were with no one on. While he has improved his walk rate, he still strikes out once every 3.18 at-bats or more than once a game. That equals a C+ year for me.
