Christian recording artist Joe Sikorra‘s son John suffers from Batten’s Disease, a degenerative condition that leads to blindness, seizures, and usually death before age 25. Despite the uphill battle that John faces on a daily basis, he fell in love with baseball, and served as a captain of his high school team during his senior year at Chaminade High School in California. However any player at Chaminade must play in a game in order to receive a letter. John got that chance in his senior season which you can see in the first video below. The moment inspired Joe to write a song titled “Step Up” and make a music video about that special moment and his love for his son. The inspirational music video can be seen in the second video. It’s a pretty awesome story and a nice video tribute.
