VIDEO: Florida Man Sets Guinness Book of World Records Mark With Over 4,000 Autographed Baseballs

Florida resident Dennis Schrader recently set the Guinness Book of World Records record for most autographed baseballs. His collection which you can see in the video below is amazing. He has been collecting signed baseballs since the 1950’s and houses the collection in a giant vault that he built his Odessa, Florida home around.

VIDEO: Pete Rose Great Hitter; Poor Speller

This Pete Rose fan swung by The Art Of Music in Las Vegas and had the Cincinnati Reds Hall Of Famer sign a baseball for him. The young man asked Pete to sign the ball “Pay It Forward” as the fan is part of the random acts of kindness movement. Pete happily obliges but makes a small error in spelling the word “Forward” as you will see at the end of the clip. For the record the word “Forward” is listed as “basic” on this 6th grade spelling list. The autograph signing made a great memory for this fan, produced a nice conversation piece for his home or office, and provided the YouTube watching public with a humorous clip. Enjoy. Oh and for the record Pete, don’t feel bad, there’s a good chance I would have misspelled it too 🙂

Mini Mega Tickets Are Pretty Cool

I was fumbling around the MLB Shop and came across something called the Mega Mini Tickets. They are 200% blowups of tickets from a bunch of historic major league baseball games. There are major events like World Series and All Star Games but also tickets from individual games like Nolan Ryan’s 5,000th strikeout, 6th No Hitter, and 300th Win, Derek Jeter’s 3000th Hit, Roy Halladay and Dallas Braden’s perfect games and a whole bunch more. There are about 100 different ones available. They run about $20 each but you can use the MLB Shop promo code INSIDER15 and it takes them down to $17. They also make Canvas Mega tickets that are about a foot wide and three feet tall. MLB Shop has the Canvas Mega tickets for $99, but I was able to find them for $79 on FansEdge.com and they’ve got a 10% off coupon code RETALMER. I’ve linked to both the Mini Mega Tickets and the Canvas Mega Tickets at the bottom of this post.
The FansEdge folks also have a whole pile of autographed stuff as part of their clearance sale which is worth a look. It’s hit or miss, but there are some good deals mixed in, the autographed stuff starts a few pages in. They’ve got a couple dozen autographed jerseys in the $75-$100 range that are among the best deals. The RETALMER code works on all that stuff too.

Lancaster Barnstormers Kid Reporter Blake Glass Is One Of The Most Awesome 10 Year Olds In America

The independent Atlantic League team the Lancaster Barnstormers has made a production out of two brothers Blake and Gavin Glass who ask Barnstormers players probing questions such as Who Looks At Themselves In The Mirror The Most and What Is The Best Pickup Line To Use On A Girl. The videos are pretty funny and the players, which include former big leaguers T.J. Beam, Fernando Seguignol, Jonah Bayliss, and Butch Hobson, as well as many minor league veterans you might recognize, are all great sports and offer some pretty humorous responses to the questions.
In addition to being awesome kid reporters, Blake Glass and his brother are also apparently awesome kids. Our friend Jason Bristol sent us the link to THIS STORY he did on Blake, the older of the two boys. It turns out that Blake has a condition called Alopecia areata which causes him not to have hair on any part of his body. He turned his autograph collecting passion into a fundraiser, donating a nickle out of his allowance for every autograph to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation through his project Autographs 4 Alopecia. In the first video below you can watch the story on the project and below that you can view some of his and Gavin’s awesome work as the Barnstormers Kid Reporters. You can visit Blake’s website Autographs4Alopecia.com and Like Autographs 4 Alopecia On Facebook. The two brothers are also holding a Silent Auction at tonight’s Barnstormers Game to raise money for the foundation. If you use twitter or facebook, be sure to retweet or share this story via the buttons above and help spread the word about these young men and their Autographs 4 Alopecia cause.

UPDATE: The brothers raised $726 during their auction.
