CHAMPIONS! For the first time ever I have finally
been a part of a team where they have won something, at
least at this point in the season. With the best
record in the Midwest League for the first half, we won
the Eastern Division title and clinched a spot in the
playoffs.
The night we finally clinched it, we had at
least 30 bottles of champagne in our locker room and
we covered each other in it as we celebrated. It was
such a great feeling to be apart of such a thing, and
it makes you want to do it again for the second half
and win the whole thing.
We finally reached and passed the all-star break
which was a much needed time off. I
spent those three days off in South Bend. Two of
those days I went to a summer camp for special needs
people and volunteered my time there helping out, and
will continue to do so throughout the rest of the
summer.
As for the players,
AJ Shappi continued his winning ways and managed to
get the win there, and Jereme Milons, getting a
surprise start won the MVP award. All in all, our
team, represented by 11 guys, did a fantastic job.
The second half of our season started up again four
days ago and we are off to another great start with a
3-1 record with the only loss being mine in the
series. Personally my pitching has been decent over
the past few starts.
I have gone at least 5 innings
now in every start which is always good. My velocity
has stayed consistent touching in the low 90's and
averaging in the high 80's. The one thing I need to
work on now is keeping myself out of the big innings,
and getting that final out of every inning.
When teams
score they tend to score a couple against me so I need to
minimize it to one run. Opposing teams are hitting
.390 off of me with two outs so that is something I
need to improve on as well.
In team news Shappi won again, and is finally out of
here and heading back home to California with the
promotion to Lancaster. His automatic wins will be
missed but its a great thing for him and his wife to
be going home.
In return we will be getting Chris
Kinsey here as his replacement. He should fit right
in to South Bend having been here for parts of the
past two seasons.
The last thing that is going on right now in my life
is trying to figure out who I want to represent me. I
currently have an agent but another agency has come
along and some of the things they are promising are
better so I am torn between the two.
Its really weird
being in this business and trying to figure out things
like that because everyone sounds good as had great
things to offer so its tough to choose. Hopefully I
will have made my mind up in the next week and I will
then know who is representing me as my agent.
For now that's all but there will be more again soon.
