The No Frills Belly-I Power Offense (Video)

With Dick Tighe, Iowa's Winningest High School Coach. Dick Tighe has compiled a record of 209-63-8 and has won 13 conference titles in nearly thirty years as the head coach of the Webster City Lynx. The No Frills Belly-I Power Offense is largely responsible for this success. The Belly-I combines the best basic plays from three offenses: the Belly series, the I Formation, and the Wishbone series. There are four running plays from each of these formations, along with several unbalanced line plays and several play-action plays. The option game is not included in this tape as Coach Tighe's philosophy is based on consistency and low risk. The Belly-I has the ability to hit all the holes along the line and around the ends with both quickness and deception. Each play is set up on the chalkboard with backfield and blocking schemes, the backfield movement is then demonstrated and game footage shows full execution. Also, Coach Tighe discusses standard run blocking schemes versus five and six man fronts. This tape is a great complement to the Belly-I book. (42 minutes)
