Triple-A Managers Mike Jirschele And Bobby Jones Are Friends And Rivals

Two of Triple-A Baseball’s longest tenured managers Mike Jirschele and Bobby Jones have been friends and rivals on the field for years. This week Jirschele’s Omaha Royals are taking on Jones’ Round Rock Express in the Pacific Coast League playoffs. it provides a chance for the two skippers to continue their friendly rivalry. Round Rock Express Launches Campaign Commercials For Mark Hamburger In Minors Moniker Madness

The Round Rock Express the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers has produced three great campaign commercials in support of reliever Mark Hamburger who is currently in the second round of MILB.com’s Minors Moniker Madness which takes 64 of the best names in the minors and whittles them down to one champion via fan vote. Hamburger entered the competition as a four seed in the Farmer Works bracket and took down Chicago Cubs prospect Matt Szczur in the first round. He is currently matched with Minnesota Twins pitching prospect Shooter Hunt, a five seed. Check out the hysterical commercials that the Round Rock Express marketing team came up with to help support Hamburger’s run through the competition.


Former Texas Longhorns Catcher Taylor Teagarden Enjoys Playing Minutes From Austin For Triple-A Round Rock

It’s been a homecoming of sorts for Texas Rangers catcher Taylor Teagarden. When the Rangers switched Triple-A affiliates moving from Oklahoma City to Round Rock, it meant that Teagarden, who has been up and down with the franchise since his major league debut in 2008, would be playing minutes from Austin, where he spent his college days. Teagarden caught the final out of the Texas Longhorns 2005 College World Series championship. In the story, Teagarden talks about his return to the Austin area, and the support that he still receives from Longhorns fans.

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds do a great job with theirs given the the fact that they have to shoot them off from the field itself due to city ordinances.
