Top Pitching Prospect Arodys Vizcaino Called Up By The Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves have called up top pitching prospect Arodys Vizcaino according to multiple sources and he will make his major league debut this week. The 20 year old has pitched for the High-A Lynchburg Hillcats, Double-A Mississippi Braves, and Triple-A Gwinnett Braves in 2011. He began the season as a starter in Lynchburg going 2-2 with a 2.45ERA in 9 starts. He was then promoted to Mississippi where he was 2-3 with a 3.81ERA in 49.2 innings covering eight starts and three relief appearances. Vizcaino was converted exclusively to relief following a promotion to Triple-A in order to groom him for a role in the Braves bullpen, and he responded by going 1-0 with a 1.29ERA in six appearances out of the Gwinnett bullpen. Vizcaino began his career in the Yankees organization and came to the Braves in the trade that sent Javier Vazquez to New York. Boston Red Sox Fan Lucky Not To Start A Riot In A Sea Of New York Fans During Yankees vs White Sox Game

This is something like you’d see in a Jackass movie. An overzealous Boston Red Sox fan decides it would be a good idea to jump on the dugout during a Yankees vs White Sox game last week at US Cellular Field and taunt the New York fans in attendance. Needless to say when he broke out a Boston Red Sox banner, it did not go over too well with the Yankees fans, including one fan in particular who rips the banner out of his hands and chucks it. After some more taunting the fan retreats to his seat where he is later presumably ejected from the stadium for dancing on the dugout during the game. Warning: Profanity in the video clip.

Former Major League Pitcher Jimmy Jones Working His Way Back To The Big Leagues As A Coach

Long after retirement and after a few years of coaching high school ball, Jimmy Jones picked up the phone and called his old pitching coach Bob Cluck, who was a consultant to the San Diego Padres, with an interest in coaching in the minor leagues. Soon after the conversation Jones, who debuted with the Padres, and pitched for the Astros, Yankees, and Expos before ending his career in 1993, found himself back with San Diego as a pitching coach on their Rookie League team in Arizona. The Padres have thought highly enough of the work Jones did in Arizona to promote him to Double-A where he is currently the pitching coach for the San Antonio Missions. In the story, Jones, who was the 3rd overall pick in the 1982 draft (two picks ahead of Dwight Gooden), talks about how he learned from the Hall of Fame teammates he played with in the bigs, coaching some of the Padres top pitching prospects, and what it means to coach within the organization he made his major league debut. It’s a great read.
