Brandon Weeden Bowman Chrome Baseball Autographs Going Bonkers On Ebay

What happens when a failed baseball player becomes a Heisman Trophy candidate? In the case of New York Yankees 2002 second round pick Brandon Weeden, his cards sell for 10 times their value now than prior to his leading the 2nd rank Oklahoma State Cowboys towards a BCS National Title bid. As a pitcher, Weeden went a career 19-26, topping out for the Kansas City Royals High-A affiliate in 2006 before calling it a career. The last baseball flame-out to win the Heisman was Chris Weinke who made it to Triple-A with the Toronto Blue Jays before quarterbacking to Florida State. Take a look at some of the recent sales for Weeden cards. It will be interesting to see if they meet even higher demand as the season comes towards a close and if Weeden were to win the Heisman. Keep in mind that Bowman Chrome base autographs were selling between $1 and $3 when the college football season began.

Eric Chavez Befriends 10 Year Old Red Sox Fan Who Was Hit In The Face By His Line Drive

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox rivalry has gone on for years, but Sox fan Andrew LaBel has a new friend in the form of Yankees third baseman Eric Chavez. On opening day at Fenway Park, LaBel was drilled in the face by a screaming line drive off the bat of Chavez. The impact was so severe that he was immediately hospitalized and nearly lost sight in his left eye. When Chavez found out what happened he got in touch with LaBel and an their friendship blossomed. The two pals now exchange text messages on a fairly regular basis and get together when the Yankees play in Boston. The story link below tells just to what extent of being a great person Eric Chavez is. Class act all the way.

VIDEO: Insanely Rich Man Has Insanely Awesome Baseball Memorabilia Collection

Denver attorney Marshall Fogel has one of the most impressive collections of baseball memorabilia in the world. Among his items are the framed poem that Lou Gehrig was given on Lou Gehrig day at Yankee Stadium, countless numbers of game worn jerseys and bats, and the triple crown of Mickey Mantle cards, the 1951 Bowman, 1952 Topps, and 1953 Topps all graded PSA 10 and worth close to $3 Million just by themselves. Babe Ruth’s daughter once wrote him asking for some of her father’s stuff back. Even many of the items in the Yankee Stadium museum come compliments of Fogel. In the video below, Fogel takes CNBC Sports Business reporter Darren Rovell, @darrenrovell on twitter, through his insanely vast collection. It’s an awesome watch.
