Julio Zuleta -- By Mike Whisante

Julio is a power hitting first baseman for the West Tennesse Diamond Jaxs. He was selected to the Double-A All-star squad in 1999. He is having a huge season so far this year. However for him to make it to the bigs, he will have to find a new position or a new team.

I watched Julio play a couple games this year. To me he looks like he could play the outfield. Early in his career, while playing catcher, he was impatient and his strike zone judgment was horrible. Since becoming a first baseman last year his strike zone judgment has improved big time. He now is hitting for average and power. This is what any big league team would love to have in there lineup.

Last year at Daytona, he batted .344 with 16 home rubs and 86 RBIs. His stats this year are awesome .297  29 Doubles  21 home runs and 97 RBIs.
